Professor of Radiology, University of California, San Diego

Jiang Du, Ph.D., is a Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Dr. Du received his bachelor degree in technical physics from Beijing University in 1995, and Ph.D. in medical physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003.
Dr. Du joined the radiology department of UCSD as an Assistant Professor in 2005 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2010 and Professor in 2016. Dr. Du’s research has focused on ultrashort TE (UTE) imaging of short T2 tissues such as bone, tendons, menisci, ligaments, calcification, iron, and myelin in the musculoskeletal and neurological systems. Du’s research has been well funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) with three active R01s, one VA career development grant, and several industrial grants. Dr. Du is the past president of the Overseas Chinese Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (OCSMRM). He has served on numerous NIH study sections, DOD review panels and many national and international foundations. Dr. Du is an associate editor or editorial board member of many scientific journals. Dr. Du has received numerous awards including the RSNA Research Scholar in 2008, the American Heart Young Investigator Award in 2008, the ISMRM Outstanding Teacher Award in 2012. Dr. Du is Fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), Fellow of International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and Distinguished Investigator of the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research (ARBIR).
